If you're looking for a romantic escape, then look no further because I've got just the place! There's something magical about the European Islands...

What I have got for you this time is such a dreamy place to be with your loved one. With stunning landscapes, warm sunshine, and a touch of Spanish charm, look no further than MALLORCA. This beautiful Mediterranean Island has it all: picturesque villages, pristine beaches, and amazing food. So, here is my ultimate weekend trip itinerary for exploring this island's vibrant city, Palma

Get, Set, Explore...

  • Day 1: Arrival at Palma de Mallorca (PMI) Airport

There is only one commercial airport in Mallorca, located in the capital of this island, Palma de Mallorca (PMI). After landing, head to your chosen accommodation and freshen up. Take a leisurely, scenic stroll along the ‘Paseo Maritime’ overlooking the Mediterranean Sea.

  • Day 2: Castell de Bellver and Jardi del Bisbe

Start your day with a hearty breakfast at your hotel and then head to the ‘Castell de Bellver’. Explore the castle's architecture, history, and the inner courtyard. Climb to the top of the circular tower for breathtaking views of Palma and the surrounding area. In the evening, return to the city for dinner at a charming restaurant.

For an exquisite dining experience in Palma, explore our guide to the most romantic restaurants including Canela and more.

Travel Tip: The castle is a great place for a picnic if you prefer to bring your own food and enjoy the view.

Ticket cost: €4

Where to buy a ticket: At the ticket desk (next to parking)

Opening times: Tuesday-Saturday from 10 am-7 pm, on Sunday from 10 am-3 pm, Monday-Closed.

After the long day at the Castell, I prefer to just sit down and relax my tired feet. If you are like me, then head down to ‘Jardi del Bisbe’. Spend some quality time strolling hand in hand through lush gardens, enjoying colourful flowers, lemon trees, and mandarin trees.

Travel Tip: Jardi del Bisbe is particularly beautiful during April and early summer when flowers are in full bloom, making it an ideal time for a visit.

  • Day 3: Cathedral de Santa Maria de Mallorca and Royal Palace of La Almudaina

Start your day with a refreshing and energizing breakfast at your hotel, then make your way to ‘Cathedral de Santa Maria de Mallorca’, aka “La Seu”. Spend the morning exploring the cathedral's impressive Gothic architecture, intricate interior, and its famous ROSE window. Climb to the rooftop terraces for panoramic views of Palma.

Ticket cost: €9

Where to buy a ticket: Online (here), at the ticket desk

Opening times: Tuesday-Friday from 10 am-5:15 pm, on Saturday from 10 am-2:15 pm, Sunday-Closed.

After your visit, head down to “Mercat de l’Oliver” to indulge in the island’s local cuisine. The vibrant and bustling food market is a perfect way to discover local delicacies. Explore the market's stalls and sample some of the island’s finest products like olives, ensaimadas (sweet pastries), and sobrasada (spicy sausage). Try some tapas and purchase fresh ingredients for snacks or a picnic.

Travel Tip: Mercat de l’Oliver is an excellent place to buy authentic souvenirs to bring back to your home. Local wines, olive oils, handicrafts, and olives are among the best that the island has to offer.

Time for another round of cultural shot, make your way to the ‘Royal Palace of La Almudaina’. This palace has a historic and cultural significance to Mallorca. It’s a must-visit for those interested in history and architecture. It’s situated near Cathedral de Santa Maria de Mallorca, that we did before lunch. Explore this stunning palace, which was originally built as an Islamic fortress and transformed into to royal residence later. Admire the extensive collection of art and historical artifacts. The palace’s architecture offers a captivating introduction to the island’s past.

Ticket cost: €7 + €4 (audioguide, available at the entrance)
